Hello everyone,

I have a Siemens CPU317-2DP connected to Tixi alarm modem(Tam).
(1) I have first tested The Tam who is connected to my laptop(COM1), the Tam is working correctly en have send messages to my mobile phone (the green lite is flashing at constant frequency)

(2) I'm trying now to connect the PLC to the Tam who are at the same location [The Tam should send a message if for example an emergency stop is activated: M10.0(the bit 0 of byte 10) go from high to low].I'm using a siemens MPI cable(6ES7 972-0CA23-0XA0). In my situation i don't want to log into the modem from a distance, The Tam and the PLC has to be connected (How??) and are at the same location.
- Should I really need to use the Teleservice package of siemens? if yes! How should I choose the properties of the TS adapter (Set PG/PC interface)??
- My CPU MPI/DP has adress 4 with a transmission rate of 187,5 kbps, the Tam MPI adress is chosen as 3 ??
- The PLC setings for the transmode(connection) on the TILA editor, the band Rate of 187,5kbps doesn't exist as options?? How can i configure the rate of the PLC on the TILA editor(connection) as 187,5 kbps??.
(3) When a connection between the PLc and The Tam is established, should the yellow Data Out lite flash??

Best regards,

6ES7 972-0CA23-0XA0 is a Siemens PC-Adapter !? Which Alarm Modem do you have ? I think you've got the wrong model, because our S7-300/400 Alarm Modems (HM7x/HG7x) already have an PC/TS-Adapter built in.

Using a profibus adapter connected to the MPI-Port of the Alarm Modem.
See hardware manual chapter 4.10.

AM_TOPEC wrote:

The Teleservice package is only needed, if you want to access the CPU through the Alarm Modem using Step7 software (local or remote).

You can't use an external PC-Adapter. You have to use our special MPI modem with built in MPI interface. The settings of this interface can be modified using Teleservice software.

That would be OK.

By default the built in adapter supports 187,5kbps. You can change it to 19,2kbps using the Teleservice software.

No, the MPI-LEDs und the Alarm Modem should flash.

Hello everyone,
I’m struggeling 2 weeks with this problem, I begin to loos my patience!! What am i doing wrong??.
My equipment constitute from the following components:
- Tixi HG71
- Siemens CPU317-2DP
- And 6ES7 972-0CA23-0XA0 is a Siemens PC-MPI/DP Adapter
- I have no Profibus adapter!! Accoording to my previous topic of feabruary, it has told to me that it will also work without profibus adapter???????

(1)When i have tryed the connection type:
Alarm Modem – locally at the PC(Pc via COM1 to Tixi): a connection has been made between the Pc and the modem. It Works!

(2)When the connection type:
PLC- local at the alarm modem (Pc via COM1 to Tixi and at the same time CPU317-2DP via COM2 to Tixi) has been chosen there is no connection made between The components because the transmode cannot be activated with the selected parameters!!

MY parameters are:
Local Modem
Modem: COM1
Baud rate: 19200 (there is no 187,5 kbps as option on the TILA editor ?????????)
PLC settings
PLC: COM2
Baud Rate: 19200 (there is no 187,5 kbps as option on the TILA editor ??????????)
Data Bits: 8 ????
Parity: None??
Stop Bits: 1 ??
Handshake: None???
Modem PLC Communication
Master
Alarm Modem MPI address: 3
HSA: 31
GUF: 1 ???
Repeats: 1 ???

PLease Help!!!!!!!
Best regards

You question in the other topic was:
"Do i really need a PROFIBUS ADAPTER to connect these two over an MPI bus as suggested in "Manual Tixi alarm modem" pag.10.5??
because i think that an MPI bus is enougth to connect them as CPU==MPI==TIXI HG71 "
You didn't tell us about the Siemens PC-Adapter you tried to use;)

It's much easier than you think: You don't have to spent money for an expensive PC-Adapter (which is an RS232 to MPI/RS485 converter), because it is already built in on your HG71 !
You just have connect the Alarm Modem COM2 (wich is a MPI-Interface DSUB9, same as on the S7-CPU) to the DSUB9 MPI Interface of your CPU ! We recommend to use Profibus connectors on both sides of the Profibus cable, because it's the best solution to connect the 2 data wires to the DSUB9, but in fact you only have to connect the pins 5-GND, 3-DATA(+), 8-DATA(-).

That's right, because the "TransMode/Teleservice" is established automatically as soon as a MPI-Software (e.g. Step7) tries to access the CPU through the modem. Thats the benefit of the built in TS/PC-Adapter !
You don't have to (even can't) use TILA2 to open a "TransMode" for MPI.

i'm again!!
I have replaced the siemens pc-MPI/DP adapter with the profibus cable with the profibus connectors. I have changes the MPI properties to 187,5kbps via the via Siematic manager, options--> set PG/PC interface, as wel as the hardware configuration of ny project, but it still not working guys!!. i have also tryed the baud rate of 19200 kbps. :?: what am i doing wrong??

Which FW-Version does your Alarm Modem has ?
What is the status of the Alarm Modem MPI-LEDs (Connect Data, Active Param) ?
Did you upload a TILA-MPI-Project ? If yes, what is the status of the variable "DeviceState" ?
How many devices are connected to the MPI bus ?
What is you HSA setting ?

See Hardware Manual Chapter 4.2: The HM7x/HG7x has to green LEDs on the upper right corner:
Connect Data: solid=CPU connected, flashing=Rx/Tx
Active Param.: registered to MPI network.

What is the status of these LEDs ?

What is the status of the variable "DeviceState" in the TILA variable table ("read values") ?

He thanks again for your support!!

In my case The Connect Data is constant green(Solid) even if the PLC is not connected via COM2???
The Active Parameter is OFF.

You mean the status of the vrables list (X=variables), if yes the status is "read"

The Active Parameter is OFF.

Please do following test:
- Disconnect all devices from the Alarm Modem
- Reset der Modem to its factory defaults (see hardware manualchapter 12.2.3 for instruction)

You should see following MPI-LED status:
Devices shipped before end of 2007: no MPI-LED is on
Device shipped 2008: Connect Data constant green

Now connect PC and CPU to the Alarm Modem and use Step7 to scan for MPI devices (PG/PC-Interface set to TS-Adapter).
Does Step7 find any device ?

AM_TOPEC wrote:

I mean the column "last value" which will be refreshed if you click on "read values". DeviceState will be 0 (failure) or 1 (OK).

Please send us your TILA and Step7 project via email.

Thanks again,

I have done the test that you have recommended!!
The modem is now with his factory settings. When i change the settings for the transmission rate(PG/PC-Interface set to TS-Adapter) from 19200 to 38400, could i see for the first time CPU (with MPI adress 4) on the network :) , i think that the PLC connectivity problem is solved???

The second problem is how to trigger the alarm, i'm not sure if ny Tila project is well configured. That's way i will send my project!! with this project i try to trigger only 2 alarms, it's a test project: if M10.0=1(see FC1, network1)---> no alarm(no emergency stop activated). if M10.0=0---> the Emergency stop is well activated!!.
If M10.1=1---> engine speed is to high( alarm is triggered).

I mail you my project, today..

and thanks again,

Ayad Mazlin

Normally it should work with both baudrates because our MPI adapter automatically detects the used baudrate. But anyway... ;)

We'll have a look at it.
