Morning everyone,

This is my first project where the TIXI HG71 will be used.
As a PLC programmer i want to connect a siemens CPU S7-315-2DP to a TIXI modem HG71, to send SMS's when installations
have failled. The siemens S7- CPU(PLC) and the HG71 are on the same platform.

(1) Do i really need a PROFIBUS ADAPTER to connect these two over an MPI bus as suggested in "Manual Tixi alarm modem" pag.10.5??
because i think that an MPI bus is enougth to connect them as CPU==MPI==TIXI HG71

(2) the second question is: who should be configured as a master or slave?? and why?

Thanks!!

Best regards

Ayad

The profibus connector is just an easy way to connect to the DSUB MPI interface, you can use your preferred MPI connection method.

The HG71 has to be "master" because slave mode is not supported.
