Hi!

I'm trying to provoke a communication between TAM HG71 and S7-317-2 PN/DP CPU for 2 days now, without any success. The "Active Param." LED is lit, which means that the modem is configured correctly and logged onto the MPI network. The "Connect Data" LED is never lit or flashing, so there is no connection to PLC and no transmision.

It is probably a bug in the TILA v2.2.0.220 software!

COM2 port on the HG71 alarm modem is a MPI port for communication with Siemens S7 CPUs. The Hardware manual mentions:

But, when I look in my project code, the baud rate for COM2 is set to 115200.

Even, when I correct this entry in the *.TiXML file with Notepad and open the project with TILA once more, it overrides this value back to 115200.

PLEASE HELP A.S.A.P! I'm very short with time and the deadline is next week. Fix the bug or explain how to dowload the correct baud rate (187500 bauds) to the modem!

P.S. Has anyone, reading this post, ever successfully communicated with TAM HG71 and S7 300 or 400 CPUs over the MPI bus?

I don't think so. To many customers are using this version witout any problems I'll move it to forum "PLC connectivity"..


The modem ignores the external "baud" parameter if you choose MPI protocol, because we only support "187500" for MPI.


We can't remove this entry in TILA for historical reasons. Just ignore it

Please check:
- Is the interface on the CPU configured as "MPI" ? We dont support profibus.
- Is the baudrate in the CPU set to 187500bps ?
- Is the "HSA" set to the same value on all stations ?
- Are all station addresses inside this HSA range ?
- Which MPI addresses are used in your network ? I see that you gave address 10 to the modem. What is the address of the CPU and how many devices are connected ?
- If there's a OP or WinCC in the same network, you have to address all CPUs consecutively, e.g.:
Modem 1
CPU 2
OP 3
WinCC 4
etc.

Did you try the local TS access using Step7 TeleService PG/PC port ?

Thank you for the quick response! Communication is working properly now!

1. Because of an incorect representation of the COM2-MPI baud rate, I suspected that that was the reason for bad communication and that it goes much deeper than just showing a wrong parameter value. That 's why I used the term "probably a bug", to describe the mistake in the configuration file. I will correct myself, showing baudrate of 115200 bauds is a misleading mistake in the software, historical reasons or not.

2. In the manual it states that TAM's MPI port supports two transmision rates of 19200 buad and 187500 baud and it cannot be ignored. Does TAM support both baud rates or not?

3. My configuration:
- Yes, it's configured as MPI
- Yes, 187,5 kbaud
- Yes
- Yes, there are just two station CPU and TAM
- There are just two devices on the network CPU 2, and TAM 10. Addresses from 3 to 9 are reserved for future expansion
- Nothing else is on the network for the time being.

The only reason for bad communication was, that TAM was not declared as a master (unchecked in the TILA configuration). As I found out TAM MUST be a master for this type of communication/access.

Please responde to the baudrate question?

Yes, it's misleading, but most customers do not look at the TiXML code. You're the first one who has noticed that.
We'll try to change that for future versions.


Yes it does. The baudrate is automatically detected by the built in TS adapter.


You are right. Currently we support only Master" mode.
